Taff Rocks Tuesday still offers the same two hours of wholesome rock painting activity on the first Tuesday of each month, but now has added taster activities.
It also has the added advantage for young people in year 7 and above High School / Comprehensive School of being open access. This means that, for 1 hour and 59 minutes, they no longer need to bring a responsible adult.

"Open Access" for year 7 (11+) school children
From September, Taff Rocks will be offering an open access option for young people who are in Year 7 of high school and above.
This option is only available on our Taff Rocks Tuesday events, we do not offer it on any other event at the time of publication.
What is open access?
Open access is where we provide staffed opportunities for young people in the absence of their parents. Young people are not restricted in their movements, other than where related to safety matters and are not prevented from coming and going as and when they wish.
How does it work?
Prior to the young person attending Taff Rocks Tuesday, a parent / guardian and the young person must complete a contract between them and Taff Rocks and bring it with them, or have one completed by their responsible adult when arriving.

Is this childcare?
No, open access simply means that the young person can come and leave without restriction. Which means, if they wish to leave early, we do not stop them.
We can never move away from this activity, it's what we were made for. But, we know that there are only so many rocks your can paint before wanting another challenge.
These creations are dry enough to transport home or share out in the community for others to find. We even place the sharing statement on the reverse for you all ready to share.
Rocks (five per 'pack') are supplied along with paints, paint pens and all the equipment needed.
There is nothing more thrilling that not having control over how the end piece of artwork will look than paint pouring. The only control you have is over the colours and coaxing the paints to run where you would like them to be.
For the Taff Rocks Tuesday tasters, two 10cm sustainable wood coasters are supplied with all the necessary resources and equipment.
This activity does require some drying time and it is advised that they be left with us for about two days at least and then collected. If a resin coat is required, they will require more drying time before this can happen.
Dot paintings are now internationally recognised as unique and integral to Australian Aboriginal Art. Before Indigenous Australian art was ever put onto canvas the Aboriginal people would smooth over the soil to draw sacred designs which belonged to that particular ceremony.
This is your opportunity to participate in this wonderful craft and enjoy your many and varied creations.

Air drying clay is a water based clay, meaning when exposed to air, it will dry / cure as the moisture evaporates. Meaning there's no need for firing in a kiln.
Polymer clays is an art medium that is known for its versatility, pliability and simplicity to work with. It is an oven bake modeling material composed of polymers, resins, coloring agents and fillers. Not a natural clay, it is man-made from a plastic, PVC base.
If these activities prove popular, we will schedule more regular workshops and increase them to three hours instead of two.
Create amazing projects from hand sculpted 'fairy houses' using jars* as a base, hanging decorations and 'gift' tags using 'cookie' cutters and by freehand. The possibilities are endless.
Simply create your masterpiece, you can either take it home to cure or leave it with us and return on the following workshop to paint it.

There's a possibility that you have seem a number of creations on social media made from this amazing clay. From jewellery, keyrings or general decorations for fun.
Create your work of wonder, you can either take it home to 'bake' using the instructions that we give you or you can leave it with us to 'bake' for your and collect it at the following workshop.
